What we collect, what we don't, and who else can see it. It's a short list, and we'd rather it stayed that way.
The short version: you can read every page on this site without telling us anything at all. If you join The Book we keep your email address, the name and mark you pick, and the free-play bets you make. We don’t sell any of it, we don’t run ads, and there is no analytics or tracking script anywhere on the site.
Just reading the site
Nothing is collected. There is no analytics, no tracking pixel, no advertising network and no third-party script watching what you look at. We don’t know you were here.
Our host, Vercel, keeps ordinary server logs for a short period — the page requested, a timestamp, a browser type, an IP address — which is how any website on earth stays up and fends off abuse. We don’t analyse them and we can’t connect them to a person.
If you join The Book
The Book is the free-play game. Joining means we hold:
- Your email address, so we can sign you in. That is the only way in — there is no password to store, and we don’t store one.
- The name and mark you chose. Your name is public on the leaderboard — that’s rather the point of it. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
- Your bets, and what they paid. Credits are free, have no cash value, and can’t be bought, sold or cashed out.
- That you confirmed you’re 18 or over and aren’t cast or crew, with the date you confirmed it.
We don’t ask for your real name, your address, your date of birth or a payment method, because nothing here needs them.
Signing in with Google
If you choose Sign in with Google, Google tells us your email address and basic profile information. We keep your email address and an account identifier, and nothing else. We use it for exactly one thing: knowing it’s you when you come back.
We never ask Google for access to your contacts, your Drive, your calendar, your photos or your Gmail, and we couldn’t read them if we wanted to. We don’t share what Google tells us with anybody, and we don’t use it to build a profile of you or to advertise to you. Signing in with an emailed link instead gives us strictly less — just the address you typed.
If you join the email list
We keep your email address and which page you signed up from, so we know what people actually want to read. You only join once you’ve confirmed from your own inbox — until then the address is held and never written to. One email a week after that, the morning after the episode. Every one has an unsubscribe link that works immediately and permanently, and your mail app’s own Unsubscribe button works too — you can also unsubscribe here at any time.
Cookies
Two, and neither of them follows you anywhere:
- A sign-in cookie, so The Book knows it’s you and you aren’t asked to sign in on every page. Signing out clears it.
- A crew cookie on the back office, which only the five of us ever see.
There are no advertising cookies and no third-party cookies, which is why this site has never shown you a consent banner.
Who else touches it
Three companies, each doing one job, none of them given anything beyond what that job needs:
- Supabase — runs the database and handles signing in. Your email, name, mark and bets live here.
- Vercel — hosts the site and serves the pages.
- Resend — delivers the sign-in emails. They see the address the email is going to.
That’s the entire list. We don’t sell your data, we don’t rent it, and we don’t hand it to advertisers or data brokers. If that ever changed we would say so here first, and it won’t change quietly.
How long we keep it
Your account and your betting record stay while your account exists, because a season leaderboard with holes in it isn’t a leaderboard. Unsubscribing from the email list is permanent. Ask us to delete your account and we’ll remove your email address, your name and your mark, and we’ll do it properly rather than hiding the row.
Age
The Book is 18 and over, and you confirm that when you join. It isn’t built for children and we don’t knowingly keep anything about anyone under 18. If you think we have, write to us and it’s gone the same day.
Asking us anything
Want a copy of what we hold, or want it deleted? Email thesandbaggersleague@gmail.com. A real person reads it. There’s no form and no ticket number.
The Sandbaggers League is a YouTube series and this site is run by the five of us, not a company with a legal department. This page says what the site actually does — we wrote it by reading our own database rather than copying a template. If we get something wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it.
